The Family Institute of Berkeley (FIB) provides workshops, consultation, one-way mirror trainings, and clinical associateships/post-docs for licensed and pre-licensed therapists seeking to develop their skills in family therapy. We are dedicated to helping clinicians add systemic therapy to their skills in order to make lasting change!
One Way Mirror
One way mirror training is an incredible experience for the clients, therapists and participants on the team. The therapist leading the team will spend the first 30 min discussing the plan for the session in collaboration with the team, then the live session will take place, and then the team will discuss the session to explore what happened in the session and the plans for the next session. Depending on the leader of the one way mirror, they may use call in, "bug in the ear", cotherapy, a reflecting team or other ways of utilizing the mirror and team. Our "one way mirror" is via Zoom, so that participants can be local or other locations in the state, country or world. Sign up today!
Workshops
At FIB, we offer a number of workshops for clinicians learning how to work systemically with children, adolescents, adults, families and couples. We have workshops on various topics related to family therapy, and will update this website with upcoming offerings.
Consultation
Individual consultation and group consultation is available for clinicians seeking to develop their skills in working with families. Working systemically can be hard and the lack of training is often the barrier to working with families, even though it is effective and research has shown it significantly decreases the risk of relapse. Contact us for more information about consultation at [email protected]
Clinical Associateships/Post-Doc Positions
We provide clinical associateships and post-docs for clinicians interested in learning to work systemically with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Associates and post-docs will be part of Bay Area Community Counseling (www.sf-bacc.org), which the Family Institute of Berkeley is a part of.
